Job Description
Arizona State University is seeking an experienced developer to work as a Web Application Developer. This position is within ASU’s Knowledge Enterprise, Web Services Team.
The Web Application Developer position is responsible for development and maintenance of applications and databases including WordPress, React, Javascript, MySQL. This position requires complex application development experience working on all phases of software development life cycles, as well as expertise implementing CMS-based websites. This role communicates with stakeholders, staff, IT colleagues, and others to identify user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend quality solutions. The successful candidate will share responsibilities with other developers on the Web Services team.

Essential Duties
- Develop websites through the full software development life cycle with modern DevOps practices.
- Work on all phases of web development including projects, tickets, implementation, testing, quality assurance and release, and maintenance support.
- Serve on projects implementing both frontend page layouts and backend programming.
- Share responsibility for maintenance and optimization of code and repositories.
- Manage project details and timelines and coordinate tasks across team members to ensure results.
- Learn new technologies when needed for a project.
- Support ticket queue, fix bugs, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide best-in-class customer service via a hybrid working environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field AND 3 years web and database experience which includes creating and updating table structures and views as well as CSS development; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of web-based applications and associated database requirements.
- Ability to identify, develop, and deploy solutions to improve effectiveness of technology delivered materials/information.
- Experience in using programming languages such as PHP, JavaScript, React.
Working Environment
Flexible work options:
- Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
- Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
- Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than 60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.
Standard Working Environment:
- Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
- Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
