Job Description

The College of Health Solutions (CHS) at ASU seeks a collaborative, service-oriented individual to join its Strategic Marketing, Communications and Events team as Web Specialist. Under direction of the Executive Director of Strategic Marketing, Communications and Events, the primary responsibility of this position is to serve as primary contact for all web-related initiatives and activities within in CHS including the implementation of web communication strategies, message, design, and content consistency ensuring compatibility with university standards and branding. This position works across teams to create and update web pages on multiple websites, including chs.asu.edu, the college's intranet and various microsites. The ideal candidate is a flexible self-starter with a desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. They are detail-oriented and bring a positive attitude, problem solving abilities and organizational skills.

Essential Duties

  • Build, publish and maintain templated webpages for internal and external audiences using Drupal 9 to maintain a highly effective online presence that advances the college's brand.
  • Write and edit web content so that it is effective and strategically consistent with our institutional messages. 
  • Ensure all content complies with the accessibility standards, follow search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and demonstrates consistency in style and tone as well as university and college guidelines. 
  • Develop and implement auditing schedules that identify outdated information, dead links, spelling and grammar mistakes. 
  • Serve as primary contact between the strategic marketing, communications and events team and all academic units or programs that require presence on the website. 
  • Utilize project management tools (Wrike, Google Drive, Dropbox) to develop ticketing system, track work that provides consistency to all CHS users on how to make changes to internal and external websites and verifies prompt posting of web site communications submitted by CHS faculty and staff.
  • Serves as a liaison with CHS IT team and university Enterprise Technology. 
  • May supervise and coordinate the activities of student workers and/or staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years prior related experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.  

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing. Knowledge of publication format and editorial practices. Knowledge and skill in the use of web technology related to marketing. Knowledge of strategic communications planning and implementation. Skill in managing creative services and resources to meet organization’s web communication needs. Skill in writing, editing, and other aspects of publication work. Skill in leadership practices. Skill in effective written and verbal communications. Ability to make, develop, and keep internal and external relationships. Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs.

The College of Health Solutions (CHS) is dedicated to translating scientific advances into practical interventions to improve health outcomes through education, research and service. Our programs are offered at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic’s campus in north Phoenix.
