Job Description
ASU Dreamscape Discovery Initiative (DDI) is seeking to hire a motivated Extended Reality (XR) Developer who will leverage their expertise in multimedia and computer graphics to help build extremely high-resolution digital twins of natural landscapes for the purpose of enabling immersive observational science in XR. Ideal candidates would be recent graduates looking to kick-start their career in XR. Reporting to both Jnaneshwar Das (Alberto Behar Assistant Research Professor) and Kip Hodges (Director of DDI), this position will collaborate with the DDI team to achieve a broad spectrum of program objectives. DDI is a pan-university enterprise with the revolutionary goal of creating and using digitally twinned, virtual research environments for state-of-the-art science, engineering, and social science research, as well as advanced professional training. If you are passionate about innovative uses of extended reality and other emerging technologies, and if you can imagine a world that conceptualizes and undertakes field and planetary observational research in an entirely new way, this opportunity may be perfect for you.
Due to the project deliverables, this is a full-time, (12 months), benefits eligible appointment for 1 year only. Employment and funding beyond the 1-year term may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.

Essential Duties
- Collaborate with graduate students to develop XR solutions, particularly in the domain of 'digital twin' development.
- Foster interactions with Dreamscape Learn and the ASU Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera group.
- Keep team up to date on project status and help facilitate cross group communication.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and 1-year related experience Or, any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in computer graphics and photogrammetry.
- Experience with VR/AR/XR technologies.
- Evidence of involvement with projects that utilize the Unreal Engine.
- Experience in C/C++/C# programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge with tools such as Agisoft Metashape and Blender Software.
- Evidence of a PhD in a related area.
- Experience with technology development in innovative academic settings.
- Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse creating and operating metaverse applications.
- Experience with Dreamscape Learn’s SDK platform or Unity platform.
- Ensure quality assurance throughout the production process.
- Experience in project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, allocate resources, and meet project deadlines.
- Experience in problem solving and decision making, evidence of organizational skills and flexibility, and proactively anticipating requirements and potential challenges.
- Experience in relationship building with a sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all team members.
- Experience contributing to cultivating a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
Working Environment
- Position will be expected to work in an environment-controlled office space.
- Position will be expected to sit for extended periods of time focusing on various tasks, as well as be able to shift attention quickly as needed.
- Position will be expected to use visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of a desktop computer.
- Position will be expected to communicate with various collaborators.
- May need to stand, push, pull, crouch, lift, and carry objects as needed.
