Job Description

Southwest Advanced Prototyping Hub (SWAP): SWAP is a cutting-edge research and development facility dedicated to advancing prototyping capabilities in collaboration with government and industry partners. It is an integral part of ASU's Knowledge Enterprise and plays a pivotal role in supporting Department of Defense contracts.

The Financial Manager, Sr will be responsible for overseeing and managing the post-award financials of the newly awarded Southwest Advanced Prototyping Hub (SWAP) within ASU's Knowledge Enterprise. This role will primarily focus on post-award management, with a strong preference for experience in Department of Defense and Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contracts. Additionally, the Financial Manager, Sr will handle procurement, subcontracts, and account reconciliation duties.

Successful candidate will be paid a signing bonus of $4,000 when they complete six months of employment with the department.

Essential Duties

Post-Award Management:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with terms and conditions of awarded contracts.
  • Coordinate with project leads to develop and manage project budgets, including tracking expenditures and forecasting financial needs.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Monitor project deliverables and invoicing for contract milestones.

Department of Defense Contracts Expertise:

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of Department of Defense contracting processes and regulations (including OTAs) to effectively manage contracts.
  • Stay updated on relevant changes in regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Procurement:
  • Oversee procurement processes, ensuring compliance with ASU and government procurement policies.
  • Work closely with vendors to negotiate terms and conditions and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Conduct regular reconciliations of financial accounts to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Resolve discrepancies in a timely manner and implement corrective actions.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Generate and distribute comprehensive financial reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with project teams, researchers, and external partners to facilitate financial planning and reporting.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field AND eight (8) years of professional accounting and/or professional financial operations experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in financial management, with a focus on post-award management and Department of Defense contracts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of government contracting regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and financial modeling tools.
  • Experience in using analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills.
