Job Description
The University Audit and Advisory Services Office is seeking a highly motivated Senior Internal Auditor to lead internal audit projects focused on improving the internal control environment of the university. ASU is a comprehensive public research university focused on inclusion, advancing research and discovery of public value and improving the communities we serve while maintaining a dynamic learning environment for all learners. The Audit and Advisory Services Office is a valued partner in this mission focused on delivering high quality and value add projects. The Senior Auditor will interact with key process owners and leaders across the university and play a critical role in assessing the effectiveness of the control environment and providing value added recommendations.
You have a demonstrated track record of executing complex audit projects with strategic focused recommendations based on your understanding of internal controls and business processes combined with a strong systems and data aptitude. You’re comfortable with learning new processes, systems and data in a swift manner and can effectively perform risk based control assessments. While you excel at data collection and analytics, you also enjoy working and interacting with people from all backgrounds and level of experience to build and support a collaborative audit environment.

Essential Duties
As an Audit Senior, you’ll star in many roles including auditor, researcher, project manager, data specialist, and trusted advisor on a daily basis:
- You’ll evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of university management practices.
- You’ll develop detail objectives, scope, and audit procedures to execute complex operational, financial and compliance audits as well as special projects.
- You’ll collect data, perform data analysis, conduct audit interviews, and prepare detailed work papers to support testing and overall audit conclusions.
- You’ll communicate audit findings and lead discussions regarding audit observations and recommendations.
- You’ll write audit reports including overall observations and recommendations, and coordinate audit responses with leaders across the enterprise.
- You’ll manage projects to maintain project scope, milestones, and resource budgets.
- You’ll lead special projects and support the overall audit team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related area AND five (5) years of professional auditing and/or accounting experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a current CIA or CISA certification or willingness to obtain.
- Advanced Microsoft excel skills.
- Experience in data analytics.
- Experience in Higher Education.
Working Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment subject to prolonged periods of sitting and manipulation of computer keyboard and associated peripheral/mouse.
