The Engineering Career Center at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is looking for a highly motivated Career Development Specialist. Under general supervision, this position coaches the full array of Fulton Schools of Engineering students in developing materials and strategies to secure degree-related internships and employment. This includes resume preparation, job search, networking, interviewing, salary negotiation, and related areas of professional career preparation.
Recruitment is for two (2) open positions, one at the ASU Polytechnic campus in Mesa, AZ and one at the ASU Tempe campus in Tempe, AZ. Initial training for the Polytechnic position will beheld for approximately 10-16 weeks at the ASU Tempe campus. After training, frequent regular travel to Tempe and other locations is required. $55,000 – $60,000 per year; DOE

- Effectively writes and presents career topics, instructs, and provides constructive feedback to students in one-on-one and group settings.
- Leads the career center teams for assigned large and small student-facing events by developing master project plans, controlling event budgets, sending surveys, presenting recaps and results, and ensuring program goals and objectives are met.
- Creates, manages, arranges logistics and implements all aspects of the engineering career center’s large student-facing signature events, such as career exploration night, rapid resume reviews, and specialized student events both in-person and online.
- Delivers and supports other in-person and online career events and programs.
- Assists with developing and implementing career development Train The Trainer workshops.
- Hires, trains and supervises peer career coaches (student workers).
Master's degree in Behavioral Science, Education or a related field AND three (3) years college relations or student advisement experience in higher education or the equivalent; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Work experience as an engineer, computer science or STEM industry professional.
- Work experience as a recruiter, human resources or hiring manager at a technology company.
- Work experience in career services at a 4-yr university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of recruiting practices.
- Experience in establishing, developing, and maintaining positive interpersonal work relationships and working with diverse populations.
- Experience in event planning.
- Experience in basic project management and workflow.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience as a supervisor.
- Experience in coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extendedperiods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
