The School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies seeks part-time, non-tenure track faculty associates for a disability studies hiring pool to teach courses to undergraduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

  Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Teach courses in relevant areas.
  • Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to undergraduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
  • Faculty Associates are required to prepare syllabi, lectures and class materials, exams, order textbooks, and grade assignments and exams.
  • Faculty Associates who teach face-to-face, hybrid, or iCourses, courses taught to campus-based students, are required to hold in-person office hours on ASU’s West campus for at least two hours per week.
  • Faculty Associates who are hired to teach oCourses, courses taught to students in ASU Online degree programs, are required to hold office hours online.

Required Qualifications:
•Master’s degree or higher (Ph.D.) in the field of discipline you are teaching or related field at time of hire.

Desired Qualifications:
•Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
•Record of scholarly publications or other relevant publications related to the field of Disability Studies.
•Knowledge of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
•Expertise in developing and teaching courses face-to-face and online.
•Knowledge of Canvas Learning Management system or equivalent.
•Evidence of teaching effectiveness e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations or evidence of subject matter expertise and experience with public speaking or training in the field.
