The School of Social & Behavioral Sciences at Arizona State University, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences invites applications for multiple part-time Faculty Associate positions in Communication for the academic years 2023-2024.

Lower-division communication courses are in high demand at the university. Many of our core courses are required in the communication major, required in other majors, or serve as electives for a variety of programs. This position would bring expertise and practical experience to courses that introduce students to communication, public speaking, small group communication, business communication, and intercultural communication.

The successful candidate(s) will teach on-campus or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students.

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communication or related field at the time of hire

Desired Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in communication or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in communication
  • Experience teaching or scholarly expertise in subject matter that matches available course needs
  • Experience in face-to-face and/or online teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students
