Description

The School of Arts, Media, and Engineering in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University invites applications for multiple part-time Faculty Associate positions to teach Media, Arts and Sciences courses in Fall 2024.

Additional topics for which we seek to create new classes include

● Mathematics for Artists and Designers

● Programming in Unity

● Programming in Unreal

● Python Programming for Media Arts

● Introduction to DevOps

● Javascript for Interactive Media

● Game Design Fundamentals

These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include: preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes).

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 4 years of industry experience or a Master’s degree in relevant field, by time of appointment 2 years of industry experience
  • Evidence of effective teaching

Desired qualifications:

  • MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
  • Record of scholarly publication and/or evidence of professional development in relevant field
  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience
