Description

The Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions (CHS) Movement Sciences undergraduate and graduate programs seeks part-time Faculty Associates and Academic Associates to teach courses or provide instructional related support for the Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters for both in-person and on-line courses. Through coursework and research opportunities, our degree programs in Movement Sciences provide students with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of human movement. The programs seeking to fill positions include Kinesiology, Clinical Exercise Science, Sports Science and Performance Programming, Clinical Exercise Physiology, and Strength and Conditioning.

These positions are part-time, non-benefits eligible, semester to semester contracts based on the dates of the sessions/courses assigned. Subsequent semester assignments may be offered at the discretion of the college and university based on teaching performance, student course evaluations, and course availability and enrollment.

Responsibilities for the faculty associate positions include:

  • Course instruction (in-person, synchronous, and/or asynchronous)
  • Demonstration of movements, exercises, and exercise routines with a full spectrum of exercise equipment (e.g., free weights, selectorized machines, resistance bands, body weight/calisthenics)
  • Demonstration and use of equipment common in sport science and fitness facilities (examples - velocity tracking, force measurement, motion analysis, etc.)
  • Course management through our Learning Management System (LMS) - Canvas, and other instructional technologies used in the course
  • Grading of course assessments
  • Virtual, in-person, and/or asynchronous student support “outside of the classroom” as needed and appropriate
  • Development of new course materials
  • Reporting of student performance issues through Academic Status Reports
  • Posting of students’ final grades
  • Communication as necessary with the course lead and program director regarding course or student-related issues

Responsibilities for the academic associate positions include supporting the instructor with the following:

  • Course instruction
  • Course management through our Learning Management System (LMS) - Canvas, and other instructional technologies used in the course
  • Grading of course assessments
  • Virtual, in-person, and/or asynchronous student support “outside of the classroom” as needed and appropriate
  • Development of new course materials
  • Reporting of student performance issues through Academic Status Reports

Qualifications

Faculty Associate Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field
  • Experience teaching or related professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and staff in a multicultural environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching courses in higher education
  • Experience using online learning platforms for course instruction
  • Experience managing course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level, including development of course content, lectures, assessments
  • Advanced certification in the area of instruction (CSCS for strength and conditioning related coursework or ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP for clinical coursework)

Academic Associate Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience supporting course instruction including grading, in-person or virtual instructional support, and developing course materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and staff in a multicultural environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Teaching assistant experience at the undergraduate or graduate levels
  • Student mentoring experience
  • Experience managing course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level, including development of course content, lectures, assessments
  • Advanced certification in the area of instruction (CSCS for strength and conditioning related coursework or ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP for clinical coursework)
