Description

Arizona State University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and visionary leader for the position of Assistant Dean of Data Analytics and Graduate Program Performance in the Graduate College. Reporting to the Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate College, the assistant dean will play a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of graduate programs through strategic data analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and program leadership. The assistant dean is an integral part of the executive leadership team and maintains positive relationships throughout the university and nationally to advance graduate education at ASU.

Key responsibilities in the following areas

Analytics

Utilize advanced quantitative analysis techniques to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and assess the performance and outcomes of graduate programs.

Propose, develop, and implement data-driven strategies to enhance the quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of graduate programs.

Refine predictive models and conduct statistical analyses to forecast future trends, performance, and outcomes based on historical data.

Create comprehensive reports and visualizations to present findings and insights to stakeholders, such as management, executives, and other departments.

Conduct ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by leadership and stakeholders to address specific business questions or challenges.

Academics

Administer academic and administrative policies in ways that foster an intellectually diverse and rigorous environment, oversee the dismissal process, and serve as the Academic Integrity Officer for the Graduate College.

Collaborate with graduate deans, directors, and chairs to enhance and expand the portfolio of academic programs offered, including strategic and innovative interdisciplinary programs.

Provide leadership and guidance on graduate academic policies, procedures, and best practices.

Graduate Education Leadership

Advocate for measures and initiatives that advance the Graduate College leadership goals, including fostering a 21st-century graduate education, increasing affinity, enriching the student experience, and stewarding resources wisely.

Serve as a resource for leadership on matters related to graduate education planning, analytics, and program evaluation.

Represent the Graduate College in university-wide initiatives and committees related to graduate education.

Collaborate with academic units to identify opportunities for program improvement and innovation.

The anticipated start date of this position is August 15, 2024.

This is an administrative fiscal year position with 80% effort towards Graduate College responsibilities and 20% effort towards academic/tenure home responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold the rank of associate or full professor with tenure or career-track faculty with associate rank or higher in one of the academic units at Arizona State University.
  • The candidate must demonstrate service to graduate education through contributions such as the University Graduate Council (UGC), departmental/school graduate committees, graduate program leadership, and supervising graduate students.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative analysis and data interpretation paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborating with our faculty members, staff, students, and external partners to advance the principles of the ASU Charter (https://www.asu.edu/about/charter-mission-and-values).

Desired Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate should demonstrate knowledge of statistical analysis, data mining and analysis, process mapping and modeling, root cause analysis, performance metrics/KPIs, quality management techniques, decision analysis, data visualizations or project management.
  • The ideal candidate will provide evidence of the ability to work in a collegial manner and maintain effective collaborations with a variety of persons, internal and external to the Graduate College, as well as strengths in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and/or programs.
