The Community-Driven Archives department is reimagining and transforming 21st century academic libraries and archives by centering the lives and voices of historically marginalized communities and by implementing innovative solutions that address inequities and erasure. The award-winning initiative advances ASU’s research and public service mission by creating a collaborative culture that models reparative action and broadens access to and preservation of knowledge.

The Collections Services Archivist employs a community focused approach to developing and enhancing open access to ASU’s distinctive collections in order to engage ASU’s multicultural and transnational communities of learners and scholars. This position works within the Community-Driven Archives (CDA) team and is responsible for leading collections services for the Wurzburger and Design reading rooms on ASU’s Tempe campus.

The Collections Services Archivist contributes to expanding and enhancing collections services for Community-Driven Archives, Rare Books and Manuscripts, and the Labriola National American Indian Data Center. Working collaboratively with this team of archivists and librarians, this position leads provision of reference and access services including Ask-An-Archivist reference and researcher appointment support. This position works collaboratively with Library colleagues, patrons, and the ASU community to facilitate integration of primary source instruction into curriculum. The Reading Room Supervisor will report to this position. The Archivist builds relationships with key stakeholders and pursues outreach opportunities leading to greater community awareness of and engagement with all ASU Library collections and supports the development of inclusive collections.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

· ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science by the hire date

· Experience working with special collections or archival materials

· Experience with outreach and engagement

Preferred Qualifications:

· Work experience in a manuscript repository or archives located at an academic or research library

· Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff or student workers

· Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, deliver, and assess user-centered services

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to bring projects to a successful completion

· Experience providing special collections or archival materials instruction

· Experience planning and implementing outreach programs that engage with multiple groups and/or various communities

· Experience providing research consultations or reference services in-person and/or virtually

· Cultural fluency skills to engage and support researchers of varied backgrounds and cultures

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written

· Reading knowledge of or fluency in Spanish

Salary and Rank: This is a Continuing Appointment track Academic Professional position; Assistant/Associate Archivist and salary dependent upon experience. Early career professionals are encouraged to apply.
