Job Description

The Program Manager performs a variety of duties to assist in the coordination of the Academic Support Network’s (ASN) Online Study Hub (OSH), which consists of digital peer communities, tutorbots, and a YouTube channel--all designed to provide online academic support to students. This position works primarily at the Tempe campus but with periodic travel to Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, and West campuses under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of ASN. This position requires the Program Manager to work in a cross-campus team environment not only with student staff, professional staff, and faculty but also with other ASN professional staff and the services they provide. This position works collaboratively with the ASN Team on all aspects of the Online Study Hub (OSH) initiative including, but not limited to, the hiring, training, supervising, evaluation, and ongoing development of student employees; evaluating, marketing, and developing program area; creating and managing budgets and schedules; using data to make recommendations to direct supervisor and ASN Director; overall strategic planning; content curation; and innovation testing. The Program Manager will serve as liaison to college partners to promote and discuss the OSH platform benefits for student use and potential growth. This position participates in Work+ training for professional staff, mentors ASN’s working learners in Work+, and assists in evaluating ASN’s working learners according to Work+ guidelines. University College (UC) will engage employees in active collaboration to discuss the design of work, workspaces, and tools to improve the quality of their workspaces.

Additionally, this position is funded in whole or part by sources other than general operating appropriations appropriate and may terminate when funding is no longer available.

Essential Duties

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate professional staff member
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, selection, training, scheduling, and evaluating of student employees
  • Work with ASN Management Team to evaluate the effectiveness of program
  • Ensure the success of ASN’s OSH academic support model by monitoring student staff participation, providing ongoing feedback, and marketing resources to the ASU community
  • Manage the operations and development of ASN’s OSH, including, but not limited to, reporting, content development and curation, platform operations, promotion, proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from potential sources
  • Participate in the design process to create services that support learners at scale using design thinking, analytics, automation, and intelligent systems
  • Contribute to University College initiatives to improve employee engagement in the design of work, workplace, tools, and processes such that we improve the quality of employee experience and satisfaction with their work
  • Assist in developing curricula to train student employees
  • Assist with the development and presentation of bi-weekly staff meetings and workshops
  • Assist with creating, organizing, and maintaining administrative documents
  • Maintain Canvas sites, YouTube channel, tutorbots, and digital peer community channels
  • Coordinate with technology partners for OSH program processes and improvement
  • Experiment with technologies (e.g., generative AI, digital peer community platforms, etc.) and test OSH new features to continue program innovation
  • Work with faculty and student staff to curate, assess, and develop materials for ASN’s OSH
  • Respond to faculty, staff, and student questions and concerns
  • Perform administrative functions such as tracking utilization of services, maintaining and cleaning data, preparing data reports on a semester-by-semester basis, assessing the program, as well as creating, managing, and tracking budget expenditures for the program
  • Serve on various ASN Committees
  • Represent ASN at events and meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to the resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Some evenings and occasional weekends may be required based on the needs of the unit
