Job Description

The J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute (Edson E+I) Place-based Innovation Spaces (PBIS) are sites throughout the community providing additional support, accessibility, and connectivity among entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. Each space has unique users providing a collaborative workspace, event space, and, in some cases, a makerspace to support ideation, creation, and various programming.

Edson E+I is seeking three (3) Event Attendants that will help provide site event coverage across the PBIS network. This is an event-based position with no regular hours. The schedule and location will vary, including evenings and weekends. Reliable transportation is required.

Essential Duties

  • Support event logistics including room set up, tear down and basic technology support.
  • Assist in organizing program events.
  • Support data entry in various software systems.
  • Monitor/organize inventory of program/event supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

No prior experience required; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or
education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate professionally to diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate personal accountability.
  • Ability to take on a wide range of logistical duties typical of hosting large events.
  • Experience in strong customer service, problem-solving and relationship management skills.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills
  • Experience in learning new technologies and engaging online through multiple platforms.

Working Environment

  • Work duties are performed onsite across the PBIS Network: 850 Phoenix Bioscience Core (Phoenix, AZ), 1951@SkySong (Scottsdale, AZ), ASU Chandler Innovation Center (Chandler, AZ), Fusion on First (Phoenix, AZ), and The Studios @Mesa City Center (Mesa, AZ).
  • This position will require a flexible working schedule (including evenings/weekends) in order to accommodate programs and events.
  • Activities include regular use of office equipment including a computer and are subject to extended periods of sitting or lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Travel to various PBIS locations will be required.
