We're seeking a talented and passionate Sr. UX Writer with a deep understanding of UX and content design best practices to partner on user experience strategy across a variety of high-impact projects. In this role, you’ll focus on using content and UX strategy to improve the student journey across ASU Online as well multiple enterprise products including the undergraduate application, transfer tools, corporate partnerships and more. You’ll partner with other content leaders, design, UX research, product management, development, project management and more to drive short-term and long-term ideation for the product roadmap. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering deep collaboration across EdPlus and the ASU ecosystem ensuring both business goals and user needs are met.

Essential Duties

  • Write clear, consistent and engaging copy that guides learners through dashboards, websites and other digital experiences or products.
  • Partner with content design leadership to lead content and content strategy across multiple projects at once.
  • Advocate for content and content best practices across all projects and products.
  • Conduct competitive research and create actionable plans for improving the content and user experience.
  • Use data and research to inform your writing, develop content strategies and evaluate content’s impact.
  • Develop and refine new processes, engage in UX research and advocate for UX integration into projects with stakeholders unfamiliar with UX teams and practices.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across EdPlus and ASU by building and maintaining relationships, and working creatively to meet stakeholder needs while achieving business and UX goals.
  • Embrace the complexity of enterprise projects within the ASU infrastructure. A successful candidate possesses a willingness to embrace change and continuously learn in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Analyze and edit existing content for brand standards, accuracy and optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain and document evolving content, brand and tone standards across products.
  • Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values and championing engagement in all its forms.
  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a communication field, or in a related social science field AND five years experience in scientific or technical writing, editing, or editorial research; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of UX writing skills and a demonstrated ability to craft clear and compelling copy for dashboards, websites, applications or other experiences.
  • Demonstrated user-centered mentality and a desire to build products, features and experiences that truly have a meaningful impact.
  • Evidence of understanding user-centered design principles and how content fits into the overall user experience.
  • Experience working on enterprise-level projects or in complex organizational environments.
  • Experience in solving complex content challenges and optimizing user journeys across different platforms and touchpoints.
  • Experience in collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, such as designers, product managers, UX researchers and developers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in content management Systems (CMS), such as Drupal, and familiar with tools such as Figma and Coda.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with user research methodologies and data analysis to inform content decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence.
  • Evidence of a genuine passion for creating exceptional user experiences through effective and meaningful content.
  • Experience in presenting ideas clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in prioritizing tasks and manage feedback from stakeholders and adjust work accordingly.
  • Experience working in product groups to design, develop and implement new ideas to improve product performance and user experience.
  • Experience in fostering a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive.
  • Evidence of a compelling portfolio showcasing a range of UX writing samples, including but not limited to web content, microcopy, onboarding flows and product documentation.
  • Experience in copy editing and extreme attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current UX industry trends such as personalization and gamification.
  • Demonstrated passion for creating content and a willingness to learn.
  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy. (This is not a fully remote position.)
