The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University are seeking faculty associates (FAs) in Psychology for a hiring pool to teach courses in our Forensic Psychology program. The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person/online, and/or hybrid courses, prepare course materials and lecture content, evaluate student work, and assist students. Candidates may teach undergraduate or gratue students based on their credentials. Individuals employed as faculty associates may not hold multiple non-benefit eligible appointments at Arizona State University (ASU).

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

About the School:

The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) is part of ASU's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. SIF is based on the West Valley campus and specializes in interdisciplinary programs. The core mission of the school is to blend scientific rigor and technical training to advance the fair and effective administration of justice. The School is home to Master’s programs in Forensic Science and Forensic Psychology, a PhD program in Law and Psychology, and undergraduate programs in Forensic Science and Forensic Psychology (https://newcollege.asu.edu/school-interdisciplinary-forensics). Currently, the School has behavioral and natural sciences strengths and is anticipated to expand to include strengths in other disciplines that can contribute to the school’s mission. Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Teach assigned courses;
  • Prepare syllabi, appropriate course goals, and objectives;
  • Lesson plan for specific courses;
  • Evaluate discussion forums, field student questions, and possibly co-supervise course associates (CAS) and undergraduate assistants;
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments;
  • Administer written mid-term and/or final exams;
  • Hold regular office hours.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in psychology or related field at the time of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of teaching or related experience,
  • Experience in online and in-person instruction,
  • Record of teaching excellence,
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
