Job Description
The T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking a motivated full-time Research Analyst to work closely and collaboratively with research faculty, research teams, external community partners, and other stakeholders to analyze, organize and execute evaluation projects for our external partner the Arizona Department of Education. The research analyst will identify, conduct, and support analyses for projects and coordinate efforts to ensure the on-time delivery of project outcomes following the expectations of key stakeholders. The research analyst will report to the Senior Project Manager. The T. Essential Duties
Administrative
- Prepares and maintains project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths, and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.
- Coordinates and facilitates daily evaluation activities with partners and stakeholders.
- Assists research faculty and research staff with protocol submission for compliance review (e.g., IRB, Data Sharing Agreements)
- Organizes tasks, responsibilities, and outcomes, documents activities, and tracks progress.
- Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; prepare and respond to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.
- Provides mentorship to other staff members, students, and collaborators.
- Assists in grant development.
- Professionally represents ASU and projects during on-site and meetings.
- Develops and maintains a cooperative and collaborative working relationship among team members.
- Works with faculty, staff, and student communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.
- Prepares post-project reports and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.
- Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data. Creates and maintains databases utilizing various computer programming languages or user-oriented software (e.g., SPSS, REDCap).
- Writes technical reports and presentations clearly and concisely, using graphical tools as needed to represent data.
- Prepares administrative reports, and data briefs to help with dissemination efforts.
- Utilizes various computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Assists in data analyses and dissemination of results (e.g., manuscript preparation, conferences, data briefs, and presentations
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND three years of experience in research, information analysis or program evaluation; OR, Master's degree in a related field AND one year of experience in research, information analysis or program evaluation; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a Master’s degree in a related field with research design, program evaluation, data analysis, and social science research methodologies and statistics.
- Experience in coordinating/managing projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience in using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, email, and statistical software.
- Experience in analyzing and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data in narrative and graphic/tabular formats.
- Experience in delivering presentations, workshops, instruction, and/or training in a professional setting.
- Experience in designing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs.
- Experience in research design including data collection, analysis, and development of recommendations and/or alternative solutions.
- Experience in communicating complex information effectively (written/verbal form) to a variety of audiences.
- Experience in working collaboratively with individuals at multiple levels, in diverse roles, and with diverse perspectives and facilitating research partnerships.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grant writing and grant application procedures
Working Environment
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended period of standing/sitting for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and autonomously with a dynamic team of professionals.
- Exercises judgement within generally designed practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer.
- Bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Communicate to perform essential functions of the job.
- Work both independently or within a complex structured team.
- Regular review of completed tasks.
