Job Description

The College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) Dean’s Office is seeking a dynamic Financial Manager to join our team on the Polytechnic campus. In this role, you will report to the Business Operations Manager and will work closely with the Finance team to coordinate and manage unit-wide financial functions, compliance and internal controls including development and implementation of management and financial operational goals. You will also be responsible for verifying accuracy and timeliness of financial functions, processes, and accounts for assigned area(s).

Essential Duties

  • Assess unit financial functions and develop and implement procedures and objectives specific to improving operational effectiveness and efficiency within established policies.
  • Initiate and prepare journal entries, financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and track contracts; monitor and initiate payments and transfers.
  • Assist with managing the procurement card (p-card) reconciliation process, p-card transaction review and allocation, and reporting.
  • Assist in semester hiring calculation support.
  • Monitor accounts, provide budgeting and forecasting support, review and approve financial transactions, review and consolidate unit-wide account reconciliations.
  • Enter and monitor ASU Foundation payments and transfers, faculty startup/commitment funds for smaller accounts, and manage and monitor staff.
  • Maintain and audit unit-wide financial documentation and files; ensure compliance with Financial Services, internal controls, and other functions designated by unit administrators.
  • Recommend and monitor compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with unit and Financial Services, advise, interpret, and provide direction to management and staff on university rules and procedures, federal, state, and local laws/regulations involving finance.
  • Work closely with Financial Services to resolve and/or assist with the resolution of financial issues.
  • Review account expenditure requests in accordance with established financial guidelines and policies.
  • Participate in a variety of departmental, unit, and university-wide initiatives and meetings to represent unit's interests in finance and to ensure an integrative/collaborative support of unit and university interests.
  • Serve as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor and College administrators.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience,OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook, Workday, and Adaptive Planning.
  • Experienced in problem solving, decision-making, planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
  • Experience in budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diversified population.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, and associated computer/technology peripherals.
  • This position receives regular review of objectives by the department administrator.
  • Hybrid work is an option for CISA employees. Hybrid arrangements allow employees to spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or Provost level approval is required.
