The School of Politics and Global Studies (SPGS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2024-2025 academic year to teach in our baccalaureate and graduate programs.
Faculty Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in-person or online. Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications, the nature of the program under which the course if offered, and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.
For this position, we seek to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse pool of qualified people who are available to teach in-person at the Arizona State University, Tempe campus, as well as a pool of faculty who are also able to teach online.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- An earned master’s degree by time of appointment in political science, global studies, or a related social-scientific field from a regionally-accredited university OR
- An earned graduate degree from a related field from an accredited institution by time of appointment with content expertise in topics relevant to political science, global studies, or a related social-scientific field.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment
- Several years of teaching experience in higher education
- Demonstrated experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas
- Expertise in one or more of the following content areas:
- Political Science
- Global Studies
- International Relations
- International Affairs/Leadership
- Global Security
- Evidence of activities consistent with the ASU Charter and Design Aspirations
