Job Description

Financial Services seeks an Accounting Specialist to perform a variety of functions requiring initiative and independent judgment in support of the goals and objectives of Financial Services.

Flexible work options:
Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60%of their regular work week at their primary ASU work location. A hybrid schedule may be available after the completion of all training. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.

A successful candidate, not presently employed within Financial Services, will be paid a signing bonus of $750 and a $1,250 bonus after completing six months of employment with the department.

Essential Duties

• Review and process new supplier records and maintain the master supplier file.
• Review and determine the appropriateness of various documents related to supplier set-up.
• Complete daily validation of supplier taxpayer identification numbers to the IRS TIN matching system and the Office of Foreign Assets Control System.
• Review the master file to validate the accuracy and completeness of data.
• Respond to inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR,Three (3) years related accounting experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in Payment Works and Workday.
• Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices and principles.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and budgeting practices.
• Experience in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records.
• Evidence of effective communication skills.

Working Environment

• Working in an office setting with computers.
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time and use hands/fingers for repetitive motions.
• Communicate to perform essential duties.
• Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions.
• Lift up to 25 pounds.
