Job Description

We seek a passionate and experienced Director of Product Management to join Enterprise Technology (ET) to lead the development and implementation of innovative digital products and services for Enterprise Technology at Arizona State University (ASU). In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital ecosystem, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our students, faculty, staff, and alums. You will be responsible for leading a team of product managers in the development and execution of product strategies that align with the overall business objectives and the creation and improvement of well-designed product solutions that provide value to students, faculty, and staff. This role reports to the Senior Director of Portfolio Management & Execution.

Essential Duties

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of product managers in the design, development, and launch of high-impact digital products and services.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product group vision and strategy aligned with the university's strategic goals.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in higher education and integrate them into the product strategy.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the team, including digital transformation and AI products.
  • Build collaborative relationships with the Web & UX team as well as the Engineering team.
  • Prioritize product initiatives based on data, user feedback, and university objectives.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the university, including academic departments, to ensure product initiatives align with overall goals and initiatives.
  • Guide teams on product development lifecycle, driving product strategy, user experience design, development sprints, and launch plans.
  • Oversee product analytics and define success metrics to measure product impact.
  • Champion a product-centric and data-informed culture within the team, utilizing data to drive product decisions and improve user experience.
  • Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND eight (8) years of related experience as a computing professional, which includes five (5) years of management/supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in product management with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams in the development and launch of successful digital products.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • 10 years of experience of designing and delivering digital products in alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and empower product teams for success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in product management tools and frameworks.
  • A passion for innovation and a commitment to improving the overall educational experience
  • Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
