Job Description
The School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership (SCETL) seeks two part-time Editors/Publishers who will be responsible for publication efforts such as copyediting and writing for the Political Science Reviewer and Fairer Disputations. Under direction of SCETL’s Director, the Editors/Publishers will perform all aspects of journal editing to include editing, writing, indexing, and the production of journals, including on-line and web-based materials.

Essential Duties
- Shepherds final articles and reviews through the process of editing (according to APA format), layout, copyediting, and online publishing using WordPress and Open Journal Systems (OJS)
- Collaborates with journal publishers and their editorial teams to keep track of submissions and prepare manuscripts for final publication
- Corresponds with authors and reviewers to ensure the timely submission of materials (manuscripts, reviewers, videos)
- Reviews copy submitted by authors, staff or faculty members.
- Writes materials with the main emphasis on eliminating ambiguity and submits to author for reviews.
- Ensures publication and production of a variety of materials including on-line publishing, from on-campus services.
- Edits material for accuracy, style and readability, recommending changes where necessary.
- Reads and proofs materials.
- Develops and maintains new outlets for publication(s), such as updating, revising or creating mailing lists.
- Solicits bids and maintains working relationship with outside vendors.
- Oversees distribution of publication.
- Develops and produces web-based materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field AND four (4) years of experience in editing, journalism or editorial research; OR, Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in editing, journalism or editorial research; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a Ph.D. in Political Theory or a related field
- Experience with WordPress and Open Journal Systems (OJS) or other content management systems
- Experience in copyediting, proofreading, and publishing
