Job Description

Under general direction, the Assistant Director, ASU Athletics Special Projects and Advancement is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and execution of key projects and assigned initiatives that support the strategic advancement of Sun Devil Athletics. Adheres to NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the university and the Arizona Board of Regents.

Essential Duties

  • Reports directly to the Deputy Athletics Director, and provides support and scope that may span the full executive leadership team within Sun Devil Athletics.
  • Provides project leadership and management of strategic projects as assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director
  • Manages and oversees the planning, updates and final output of key ASU Athletics presentations, executive updates, and briefing documents.
  • Acts as the liaison and coordination point of contact for high profile events that require attendance, and or support of the ASU executive team.
  • Coordinates with other ASU units as appropriate, given project and initiative scope and scale.
  • Works to create a continuous improvement, proactive approach of efficient, coordinated, planning and execution of ASU Athletics initiatives that are led by the executive team.
  • Supports key functional meetings, to drive meeting consistency, efficiency, and follow up coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Working Environment

  • This position is onsite and in-person on the ASU campus in Tempe, Arizona
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Days and Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. May require extended hours to ensure continual efficient operations.
