Job Description

Support the healthcare team in the provision of care to students, faculty and staff in a diverse clinic setting. By providing administrative support, direct patient care assistance, and front / back office tasks. Duties will include but are not limited to rooming patients, maintaining patient flow, measuring and recording of vital signs, lab draws, assisting providers with medical procedures. Essential Duties

Perform front desk duties including but not limited to: answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and verifying patient information, patient check in/out, coordinate and facilitate accurate patient appointments, reconciliation of insurance details.Manage patient flow.Complete patient intake and entering details in to Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Obtain patient reason for visit, past medical history, vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies and assist with medical examinations.Administer screening questionnaires.Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in EMR as established by appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.Perform procedures, such as venipuncture, EKG’s, wound dressing, medication administration (oral, ID, SQ IM).Administer immunizations in accordance with written policies.Assist providers with exams and minor surgeries. Prepare for procedures with all necessary instruments and supplies and consent forms. Applying ortho splints and application of DME appliances, removal of casts.Maintains Inventory of medication and medical supplies as necessary.Completes physician orders and provides instructions and directions to patients as needed.Entering of lab results and other patient results in EMR. Perform and participates in sterilization of instruments and assist and maintains infection control standards.Maintain a clean and hygienic environment.Provide training and work direction to new staff and extern students as directed by supervisor.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an approved or accredited Medical Assistant training program; OR, having been directly supervised by the same Health Care Practitioner, or Provider Group, for at least 2000 hours before February 2, 2000.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience a healthcare clinic setting. (1-2 years)
  • Evidence of graduating from a formal medical assistant training program during and have the certified medical assistant (CMA) certificate; OR, is grandfathered in as defined by State regulation.

Working Environment

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
