Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Enrollment Services, the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment performs administrative functions by assisting with the planning, organizing and directing of the day-to-day operations for New College undergraduate student recruitment. The position is specifically responsible for building relationships and enrollment pipelines with high schools and community colleges in the surrounding districts as directed. Additionally, the role will identify strategies and connections within the assigned districts to support events, information sessions, field trips, on-site tabling, and more as appropriate or permitted. The position also assists in the planning and execution of transfer enrollment strategies at the assigned community colleges to increase overall majors and enrollment at the West Valley campus in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.

Essential Duties

  • Supervises undergraduate recruitment coordinators for the New College for both transfer and first-year student populations
  • Assists in planning and executing recruiting strategies for the unit, and as assigned by central ASU Admissions
  • Liaise with faculty to plan and attend recruiting events to increase applications, yield, and new student enrollment
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff; implements corrective action as required
  • Assists in planning, developing and administering unit budget; prepares or coordinates preparation of financial and administrative reports
  • Analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans; assists with the development of long- and short-range goals
  • Assists in the development of objectives and activities based on department goals
  • Maintains, and implements department policies and procedures
  • Serves as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils and committees as assigned
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees
  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of department programs, as directed
  • Meets all enrollment and yield goals as outlined by the college and university
  • Builds and maintains rapport with high school partners to increase applications, deposits, and yield
  • Creates and maintains effective partnerships across the campus/university/community with appropriate stakeholders (EOSS, Housing, FASS, Admissions, etc.)
  • Works in collaboration with marketing and admissions to ensure appropriate marketing and outreach
  • Supervises RFI, campus tours, and Salesforce marketing to ensure effective, timely engagement with students
  • Participates in TRN and FTFYS orientations
  • Plans and attends recruitment events on campus, community colleges, high schools, and other community events as appropriate
  • Attends all recruitment and admissions partner meetings as appropriate
  • Oversees completion and development of all outreach/recruitment campaigns in various modalities (Salesforce, phone, text, etc.)
  • Creates/maintains/executes other initiatives, projects, and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience training staff effectively on an ongoing basis; leading and developing continued learning and professional development for direct reports.
  • Evidence of exceptional work ethic and professionalism; with a strong affinity to the university charter.
  • Evidence of attention to detail and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and train others to provide engaging, dynamic, effective presentations to small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education environments and organizational structures.
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity and execution of inclusive recruitment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively and demonstrate professional maturity and judgment.
  • Evidence of ability to build new relationships and nurture and maintain existing networks effectively and professionally.
  • Evidence of ability to take appropriate initiative and make strategic decisions independently.
  • Evidence of a Masters Degree preferred.

Working Environment

  • Office setting with frequent travel to locations throughout the West Valley and as directed. Must have reliable transportation and an ability to travel as driving to locations may be required on a regular basis.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and to perform essential functions.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
