Job Description

As the Accountant Sr. for the ASU Alumni Association your responsibilities will include all facets of accounting for a non-profit: AP, AR and General Ledger accounting. Human Resource work including payroll review and confirmation, posting open positions and supervising accounting students. This person will be an important part of month end, financial statement preparation, annual audit and budget, Non-Profit accounting experience is a plus.

Essential Duties

  • Provide work direction and oversight over the activities of assigned student workers. Assist with the hiring of department staff.
  • Approval of travel reimbursements, purchase of supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Performs activities associated with Department Time Administrator to ensure accurate and timely recording of payroll data.
  • Process AP, AR and GL transactions daily.
  • Supports internal and external audits and prepares audit documents for payroll reconciliations and financial records.
This position is an important part of the Alumni Association's financial management team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR, six (6) years professional accounting experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, practices, principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Experience in performing detailed numerical computations.
  • Experience in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.
  • Evidence of effective communication.
  • Experience in using computer hardware and software, Workday and advanced Excel skills are a plus.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
