The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS), (Online Psychology Programs) at the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (New College) at Arizona State University invites applications to establish a pool for Academic Associates in the Online Psychology Programs for the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful candidates will co-teach specialized undergraduate and graduate* online courses under the direction of full-time Program faculty, evaluate student work, and assist students with mastery of course and Program objectives. The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (Online Psychology Programs) at New College welcomes applications from candidates who align with New College's charter and are committed to inclusive excellence and student success. The successful candidate will also advance New College’s Design Aspirations through teaching and service.

Academic Associate positions are one semester (7.5 or 15 weeks), non-benefits-eligible, and fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Academic Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at ASU. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
This recruitment is to establish a part-time hiring pool for temporary and semester appointments. Applications are considered for the current year only. Applicants who are not hired are encouraged to reapply for the next posting.

Essential Functions of the Position:
- This position includes co-teaching under the leadership of a lead instructor,
- Reviewing student assignments, providing constructive feedback, grading assignments,
- Meeting synchronously (via Zoom) with students individually or in small groups as needed, responding to student inquiries (within 24 hours, 7 days a week),
- Remain in ongoing communication with the lead instructor and instructional team throughout the course,
- Maintain a positive and supportive environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in psychology or related field at the time of hire
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
- Experience with instruction at the post-secondary level by time of appointment
- PhD in any area of Psychology or related field is required to teach graduate courses
- Educational background and/or research or clinical experience in one or more of the following: Statistics and Research Methods; Cognitive Psychology; Developmental Psychology; and/or Industrial/Organizational Psychology
- Potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate or graduate level as evidenced by organization and communication skills
- A record of some scholarship as evidenced by professional experience and/or academic experience within psychology
- Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas
- Evidence of excellent communication skills
- Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, etc.
