Job Description

The Management Intern will support the visual and digital communication functions of the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at ASU. This role is designed for a creative and adaptive individual who can help us enhance our digital presence through compelling video and graphic design efforts. This position will play a key role in developing and deploying social media content and strategies, including curating and creating video, photography, and graphics to advance the School's research, mission, and vision. The Management Intern is creative and adaptive, using research to find opportunities for new digital campaigns, building on a strong foundation of audience research and data to drive decisions, as well as employing trends that are appropriate for our audiences and mission.

This role will work closely and collaborate with a team of creative professionals, including a Communications Specialist, and will work under the direction of the Manager of Marketing and Communications. This position is a benefits-eligible, part-time role that will work 20 hours per week but may have the potential to increase in hours scheduled per week.

Essential Duties

  • Research and develop social media and digital marketing strategies to engage online audiences effectively.
  • Help develop, execute, and audit social media strategies, including maintaining an annual content calendar and attending events for real-time social media coverage.
  • Create engaging online content, including video, photography, and graphics to expand the reach of the School’s initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Specialist and Manager of Marketing and Communications to develop digital content that supports news, fundraising, recruitment goals, and fosters an inclusive environment for current and prospective students.
  • Analyze social media, email, and web analytics to generate performance reports and develop plans for improvement.
  • Maintain and adhere to ASU and The College brand voice and tone.
  • Assist in the creation of creative, high-quality communications for various audiences (e.g., faculty, staff, students, donors, prospective students, and the general public) using multiple digital communication mediums (e.g., email, web, social media).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in video creation and graphic design, including proficiency in Adobe applications such as PhotoShop, Premiere, InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Experience in social media platforms and digital content creation tools.
  • Ability to research and apply current digital trends.
  • Experience in work that requires organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Evidence in being a collaborative team player with a creative mindset.

Working Environment

This position requires:

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting.
  • Candidate must have visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of a desktop computer; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Works from general instructions on standard job duties and specific directions/instructions on new assignments.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to perform essential functions are required as well as an ability to use a telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copy machine.
