Job Description

The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is looking for a Facilities Coordinator to assist the Facilities Manager with a variety of tasks such as coordinating all department facilities and safety activities, managing property asset inventory, building ISMC requests, package delivery for the department, and the annual space survey. This position is an in-person position and will be expected to be on the TEMPE campus Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Essential Duties

Facilities

  • Work closely with Facilities Manager and University admin to coordinate all department facilities and safety activities in compliance with college and university policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Provide project support and coordination from minor office changes to new faculty laboratory construction.
  • Oversight of building maintenance problems to university facilities management FACMAN and monitors status of building issues including reporting as needed and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Observe work in progress to gauge timeliness, conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship.
  • Manages property asset inventory and record are accurately reported and maintained.
  • Has oversight of building access requests ISAAC to comply with university safety training requirements and space assignments and approves and reviews as needed.
  • Surplus property for salvage coordination and pickup.
  • Provides oversight on packing delivery for SEMTE purchases.
  • Assists with Annual Space Survey.
  • Manage database and ensured that the SEMTE facility work order is current.
  • Coordinate large equipment deliveries, and installation for principal investigator.
  • Coordinate desk assignments to graduate, PhD students, visiting faculty and faculty associates.
General
  • Supervise student workers and assigns projects accordingly. May supervise facilities staff as needed in the future.
  • Participate in a variety of departmental meetings to represent space assignments and security issues and ensure all policies and processes are adhered to.
  • Provides timely, professional, and positive customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of related modular furniture installation, supervision of facilities operations and/or project management experience, to include one year supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications and comparing them with construction in progress.
  • Experience cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of facilities planning and construction management processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building construction, materials, and methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building codes and standards of practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Piping Systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, Teams).

Working Environment

  • Walk moderate distances and in varying temperatures to service locations throughout Tempe campus.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Drive University vehicles/carts.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Work with Lab Managers to ensure compliance with safety within SEMTE laboratories and will also work with SEMTE business and advising office in support of special events.
