Job Description

We seek a skilled JAMF Administrator to join our IT team. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain JAMF environments to support Mac and iOS systems that meet organizational needs. You will package software using Autopkg, provide essential device management, deploy software, troubleshoot issues, and assess new technology implementations. Additionally, you will collaborate with the help desk to provide Tier 3 support, enabling them to perform their roles effectively.

We support six schools across multiple locations, including Tempe, downtown Phoenix, Mesa, and our LA campus. Essential Duties

  • Lead System Development Projects: Provide leadership for system development projects related to JAMF and macOS management, overseeing analysis, design, implementation, and testing to ensure alignment with organizational needs.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge and expertise in JAMF and related technologies through ongoing research, personal use, vendor presentations, and training opportunities.
  • User Support and Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of support for the JAMF platform, including training, troubleshooting, and advising users on best practices. Act as an advocate for user needs in discussions with vendors.
  • Software Packaging and Automation: Develop, package, and maintain software applications using AutoPkg and other relevant tools to streamline deployment and updates across the organization.
  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Configure, install, and upgrade computer hardware and software, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve hardware and software issues, collaborating with vendors and university resources as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Level 3 Help Desk Support: Manage Level 3 help desk tickets, providing advanced technical support to resolve complex issues and assist the help desk team during peak periods, such as start-of-semester and end-of-semester times.
  • Collaboration with IT Teams: Coordinate with other IT departments at ASU, including central Enterprise Technology team, to maximize resource efficiency and promote best practices in technology use.
  • Process Improvement: Review and analyze existing systems and procedures, applying principles of process reengineering to design and implement more efficient workflows.
  • Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training sessions on JAMF and related technologies, providing personalized instruction as needed. Prepare and update user documentation and manuals, ensuring clear communication of system functionalities.
  • Project Planning and Reporting: Prepare project plans that outline objectives, timelines, and resource requirements. Monitor project progress, provide status updates, and adjust as necessary.
  • Effective Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication with customers, technology specialists, and vendors regarding service offerings and support.
  • Long-Range Planning: Contribute to the development of long-term goals and objectives for IT initiatives, aligning them with the strategic vision of the organization.
  • Conduct Research and Special Projects: Undertake special projects and research tasks as directed, contributing to continuous improvement in IT services and support.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field AND four (4) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Eight (8) years experience providing related information technology services, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Scripting Skills: Proficiency in multiple scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate complex tasks and integrate JAMF with other systems.
  • Project Management Experience: Experience leading or managing IT projects related to system migrations, upgrades, or implementations, demonstrating the ability to oversee complex initiatives and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in Automation Solutions: Knowledge of automation frameworks and tools (e.g., ServiceNow or Ansible) to streamline processes and improve efficiency in device management and deployment within the JAMF environment.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing JAMF Cloud environments, including implementing cloud-based solutions for device management and deployment, ensuring seamless integration with existing IT infrastructure.
  • Evidence in being certified in JAMF 100, 200 and 300 (or equivalent experience), demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in deploying, configuring, and managing JAMF Pro to optimize macOS and iOS device management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Automated Software: Understanding of functional automated software and current technological advancements to enhance system performance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant technology tools to effectively address customer inquiries, recommend configurations, and resolve diverse troubleshooting issues.
  • Process Improvement: Knowledge of methods and approaches for process improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Instruction and Training Development: Skill in designing and delivering instructional materials and training programs for staff and end-users.
  • Problem Resolution: Expertise in identifying and resolving issues related to computer hardware and software products.
  • Application Development: Proficient in utilizing applications software to create custom solutions tailored to user needs.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Customer Service: Strong communication skills to engage with and assist customers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Capability to mentor and guide technology staff, fostering professional growth and development.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking;
  • Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to 50 pounds;
  • Regularly required to work in cramped and enclosed areas and exposure to variations in temperature when deploying equipment.
