Job Description

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for developing and implementing various components of Arizona PBS’ communication strategies, including executing the station’s regular mass email communications, contributing to the quarterly Arizona PBS print magazine, drafting press releases, and supplying written material for the azpbs.org website and other digital platforms.

Essential Duties

Plans, develops, and produces creative, high-quality and cost effective communications to help Arizona PBS grow and diversity its audience, using multiple platforms and tools (e.g., e-newsletters, print, press releases, and web). Participates in strategic communications planning for station projects and initiatives. Interfaces with and conducts regular meetings with colleagues across the station to ensure effective communications strategies are being utilized to promote Arizona PBS’ various projects and initiatives. Works with the rest of the Brand Engagement and Marketing team to develop and uphold the Arizona PBS writing style guidelines in an effort to ensure consistent messaging and tone across various platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Education or a related field AND three (3) years of related work experience in the development of comprehensive and creative communication; OR seven (7) years of related work experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that verify mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six (6) months of experience.

  • Knowledge of marketing practices and principles. Knowledge of graphics design concepts.
  • Skill in strategic communication planning.
  • Experience with communications platforms, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and ConstantContact are essential.
  • Skill in principles, concepts, and practices of project management.
  • Skill in best practices of communication and marketing methods and techniques.
  • Skill in communication assessment, editing, research, and summary.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication, and oral/written/media presentation.
  • Skill in planning communication resources and media technology.
  • Skill in design and creative communication styles. Skill in leadership, collaboration, and teambuilding.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, teams, and community members.
  • Ability to work with a variety of constituents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external committees, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to demonstrate research, publication, and presentation experience.

Working Environment

Potential flexible work arrangement with remote work possible 1-2 days a week.
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
