Job Description
This role is part of an experienced and entrepreneurial team advancing ASU’s global access and impact mission. This position will report to the Vice President of Global Academic Initiatives (GAI) and is responsible for developing, directing, marketing, managing, and leading the business development function for the unit. The Senior Director will generate new business opportunities for ASU’s academic enterprise, expand existing global partnerships, and drive the success of the ASU Cintana Alliance, a global university network currently comprised of 30 partners in 26 countries. GAI is a fast-moving unit advancing high-priority projects, that are affected by global economic, social, and political factors, therefore we are seeking a leader who can thrive in an atmosphere of complexity and dynamism.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for developing new relationships and managing accounts to generate new global business opportunities for ASU, aligned with department goals.
- Travel and speak on behalf of ASU and the Office of Global Academic Initiatives at PR launch events, conferences, and visits with university and government officials.
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with existing global university partners.
- Responsible for prioritizing and advancing complex operational aspects of global partnerships.
- Connect global partners to ASU ‘s various academic and administrative units.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships across departments and advance goals or projects without direct authority or oversight.
- Present and market ASU’s global efforts to a wide variety of external groups or entities locally, nationally, and globally.
- Develop, maintain, and report on metrics to gauge the social and economic impact of ASU’s work with global partners.
- Develop a well-researched perspective regarding ASU’s global activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND ten (10) years of related experience which includes five (5) years of management/supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of eight (8) or more years of business development experience with a demonstrated track record of successful business development activity.
- Experience living, working or traveling abroad.
- Demonstrated knowledge of global higher education principles and practices.
- Evidence of an advanced degree and/or participation in research and/or publication activity.
- Ability to travel locally, nationally, and globally.
- Evidence of effective communication skills, and presentation skills.
- Bi- or multi-lingual communication skills.
- Skill in problem solving and decision-making in a complex organization.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
