Job Description
Arizona State University’s Knowledge Enterprise (KE) seeks an energetic and creative individual to join the Southwest Advanced Prototyping (SWAP) Hub us as a Security/Data Management Analyst Sr. In this role you will help our faculty uncover lessons of the past, navigate perils of the present, and reinvent promises of the future. As such, this position will work closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and internal and external stakeholders to manage our growing network of sensitive security and data management needs.
The Security/Data Management Analyst Sr position will be located primarily at the MacroTechnology Works (MTW) site, an ASU facility less than 10 miles from the university’s Tempe campus. MTW is where semiconductor and microelectronics industry members get a combination of access to advanced equipment and research capabilities that are unique to ASU. The position is envisioned to support project work in semiconductors and microelectronics.
Due to SWAPHub's funding, this position requires candidates to be US citizens due to ITAR/Export Control and clearance level activity

Essential Duties
- Ensuring adherence to NIST 800-171 and other cybersecurity requirements outlined by sponsor.
- Drafting and maintaining project specific, procedural and compliance documentation.
- Overseeing vulnerability scans, remediation practices and technological updates performed by IT Support Staff.
- Monitoring vetting of third-party vendor software through established ASU processes.
- Planning, writing, and testing of project specific Incident Response Plans .
- Leading Incident Response activities, including reporting to authorities as appropriate.
- Advising project management regarding appropriate platforms and workflows to ensure the security of export-controlled data (in partnership with research operations).
- Conducting data storage infrastructure, on-boarding, training, and off-boarding activities for project personnel.
- Developing and implementing data workflow best practices and standards within and between institutional and industrial members.
- Performing regular evaluations on data workflows to ensure data integrity and data confidentiality
- Working with the research security team to accomplish grant objectives while maintaining focus on data integrity and security.
- Working with partners and leadership to report and disseminate data using charts, visualizations, models, etc.
- Ensuring that data management plans account for appropriate security measures for export-controlled data and making use of data security tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a computer related field and five (5) years of experience as a systems analyst, which includes three (3) years in a supervisory capacity; OR,Master's degree in a computer related field and three (3) years of experience as a systems analyst , which includes three (3) years in a supervisory capacity; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a Master’s degree in information technology or related field and 2 years of experience OR 8 years of experience in information technology OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Evidence in having more than one information security certification, e.g. ISC² certifications, GIAC certifications, Sec+, CEH, etc.
- Exhibits a very high standard of technical judgment, innovation and execution to tackle open-ended problems that require difficult prioritization, defining both what and how of things to be done.
- Owns complex issues and decomposes them into simple, scalable solutions and work products.
- Ability to lead conversations with portfolio managers to continuously improve security posture.
- Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating, and encouraging support of the project’s security and data management needs.
Working Environment
- This is a first shift position 0800-1700, Monday-Friday. Occasional off shift work may be required to manage emergencies.
- Regular activities require ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at one time, manage conflict, work well in a team environment and operate independently, and communicate effectively to exchange accurate information.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts .
- Activities are performed in environmentally controlled office and laboratory settings subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position, walking moderate distances to perform work functions, and operating computer and other office productivity machinery.
- For the class 100/1000 cleanroom space, it will be necessary to wear personal protective equipment including long pants, closed-toed shoes, shoe covers, a lab coat or cleanroom suit, gloves, and safety glasses.
- Some activities will entail the need for frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
