Description
The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate film courses in-person with Media and Immersive Experience (MIX) Center in downtown Mesa at ASU at Mesa City Center, and at the Tempe campus.
These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include: preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes), and utilizing ASU Canvas for each course.
The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
Anticipated start date is: Spring 2025, session A, B and/or C

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of professional industry experience or a Master’s degree in relevant field and 2 years of professional industry experience, or a Ph.D. in a relevant field with related experience, and/or any combination of education and experience, by time of appointment.
Desired qualifications:
- M.F.A or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
- Experience in general film production; field sound production; visual effects; creative producing; cinematography; directing; relevant to each course
- Record of scholarly publication and/or evidence of professional productions
- Ability to teach film theory in relation to film production practices
- Evidence of effective teaching
- Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience
