Faculty Associate in Theatre – School of Music, Dance and Theatre

Location: Tempe Campus

Description: The School of Music, Dance and Theatre music program on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses online and/or on-campus in theatre and/or theatre design and production.

These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include: preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes).

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Anticipated start date is: Spring 2025, session A, B and/or C

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of industry experience; a Master’s degree in relevant field, by time of appointment and 2 years of industry experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired qualifications:

  • MM/MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
  • Professional experience and/or teaching in one or more of the identified disciplines
  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Knowledge of local and regional disciplinary ecosystem
  • Demonstrated experience developing curricula
  • Creative Activity/Scholarly research interests and achievement as demonstrated through performances, presentations and/or publications
