Description

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Teach courses in relevant areas, in-person, online, hybrid, or a combination thereof
  • Hold office hours to support students
  • Develop course materials
  • Evaluate student work

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communication or related field at the time of hire

Desired Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in communication or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in communication
  • Experience teaching or scholarly expertise in subject matter that matches available course needs
  • Experience in face-to-face and/or online teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
  • Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, etc.

Teaching/Student evaluations may be required at time of interview.
