Description

The School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies seeks part-time, non-tenure track faculty associates for a hiring pool. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Teach courses in relevant areas.
  • Teach upper and/or lower division courses to undergraduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
  • Faculty Associates are required to prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, order textbooks, and grade assignments and exams.
  • Faculty Associates who teach face-to-face, hybrid, or iCourses taught to campus-based students, are required to hold in-person office hours on ASU’s West campus for at least two hours per week.
  • Faculty Associates who are hired to teach oCourses, courses taught to students in ASU Online degree programs, are required to hold office hours online.
  • Spanish Language Faculty Associates: Applicants should have experience in teaching core oral proficiency courses that build foundational knowledge while focusing on conversational skills. This rigorous training will prepare students for the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Language oral proficiency exam.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in the field of discipline you are teaching or related field at time of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
  • Record of scholarly publication or, if applicable, theatre, performance, and/or art show experience.
  • Expertise in developing and teaching courses online and in person.
  • Evidence of exemplary teaching experience.
  • Experience with online delivery platforms such as Canvas or equivalent.
