The University Innovation Alliance (UIA) is the leading consortium of large public research universities working together to improve outcomes for all students across the socioeconomic spectrum, particularly low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color. About the Position
Under administrative direction, performs work of considerable difficulty in coordinating and directing the activities and functions of a project or program. Independently ensures that the goals and objectives of the project or program are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.
The University Innovation Alliance Program and Events Manager is a full-time, paid university leadership development position that directly supports the Chief of Staff of the UIA and the UIA Central team on initiatives, projects, and priorities that directly affect and support the goals and objectives of the UIA broadly. We seek people who have diverse professional and educational backgrounds. What they have in common is a passion to learn, change, challenge and use their existing skills to solve the most pressing public higher education problems facing our nation today. Fellows are self-motivated problem solvers who must be able to multitask and collaborate with organizations across their own campus and other UIA institutions. They are critical thinkers with a positive attitude. Travel is required for this position as is occasional work on nights and weekends.

Essential Duties
- Provide strategic assistance to the Chief Network Engagement Officer and the Central UIA Team to keep our high-yield and active projects moving forward on an aggressive timeline
- Attend scheduled UIA meetings at the request of the Chief Network Engagement Officer; Liaison meetings, UIA Central team meetings, Fellow bi-weekly meetings, etc.
- Serve on and/or provide leadership to specific projects including event planning for UIA sponsored events including liaison retreats, board meetings and annual summit.
- Manage end-to-end logistics for all assigned events, including venue selection, vendor negotiations, transportation arrangements, and on-site coordination.
- Develop and maintain detailed event timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met and milestones achieved.
- Coordinate with staff and external vendors to ensure all event logistics align with strategic objectives and budgetary constraints.
- Serve as the main point of contact for logistics-related inquiries and troubleshooting during events.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in event logistics and incorporate innovative ideas into event planning processes.
- Assist with the production of materials and documents for wide dissemination across the Alliance and beyond; agendas, meeting minutes, data visualizations, etc.
- Serve as a utility player within the organization who works well under conditions of ambiguity, provides impactful support, and serves a critical role within the organization.
- Assist with the diffusion of results and outcomes of campus and UIA Central student success work with various constituencies
- Attend scheduled conferences, symposiums, Board meetings, and UIA engagements, locally and out-of-state, at a maximum of once per month.
- Prepare presentation materials, slideshows, and prep for presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a bachelor's degree and two years of full-time work experience such as in a business office, school, university, or a professional trade
- Evidence in being authorized to work in the United States (Applicants must be either a citizen of the United States or be able to maintain work authorization throughout the Fellowship. International students are eligible only if visa assistance is not required.)
- Display outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to attend mandatory training sessions, which may require travel out-of-state
- Three (3) years of full-time work experience
- Evidence of an Advanced degree
- Successful implementation in both academic and professional settings
- Connect and work with diverse people on complex projects that support university, Alliance and personal goals
- Able to take initiative, work independently, lead on projects, and collaborate as part of a team
- Customarily think outside the box and rapidly iterate to strategically solve problems
- Have exceptional project management/time management skills; ability to appropriately pivot and adapt to high stress/high demand deadlines and deliverables for reports, grants, presentations, and UIA Board meetings
- Hold an unwavering passion and commitment to transforming public higher education
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, change management practices, and techniques needed for large, complex projects.
