The Hispanic Research Center (HRC) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in one or more areas that examines the experiences and challenges of the Hispanic/Latino community in the United States. The specific area of specialization in the study of Latinos is open, but preference will be given to candidates who bring an interdisciplinary perspective to their research and a desire to engage with faculty, students, and HRC affiliates to build an intellectual community. HRC is committed to the success of a Postdoctoral Research Scholar who will work closely with the HRC director and associate director, as well as other partners across ASU.
This position is for one year, with an anticipated start date of fall 2025. Options for an additional one or two years of funding may be offered, depending on HRC needs and available funding. The position is in-person, at the ASU Tempe campus.
Essential Duties:
No teaching is included in the appointment. The successful candidate will engage deeply in the priority research and outreach areas of the HRC, especially those that overlap with the scholar's own work. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will:
- Participate in HRC events
- Develop, compile, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data related to the challenges and experiences of the Hispanic/Latino/a/e communities
- Help develop and pursue external funding opportunities (project development and grant writing)
- Engage in interdisciplinary and community collaborations and partnerships.
- Help craft and write research papers, funding applications, and policy briefs.
- Supervise and mentor research assistants/students.

The position is located at ASU’s Hispanic Research Center in Tempe, Arizona. HRC is a university-wide center that is part of a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and plays a leading role in working with Hispanic/Latino/a/e communities, through research, education, and outreach. Its mission is to better understand the evolving Hispanic/Latino/a/e identity and the challenges and opportunities this identity creates. We take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Hispanic/Latino identity, analyzing everything from survey and polling data to archival materials and creative expression such as art and literature.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a social-scientific field within five years from receipt of the doctoral degree, from a regionally accredited university by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated experience crafting and analyzing original survey instruments, including large N studies, qualitative and focus group interviews.
- Evidence of or demonstrated potential for excellence in research.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated evidence of a research agenda congruent with the vision and mission of the Hispanic Research Center and its priorities, and a desire for engagement with the Center’s personnel and affiliates.
- Potential ability to secure or evidence of external funding for research.
- Evidence of interdisciplinary engagement with Latin- cultural studies
- Demonstrated potential to engage in interdisciplinary research.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.

The application deadline is May 21, 2025. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool. Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled.
