Barrett, The Honors College seeks a visionary and dynamic faculty member to serve as Dean’s Fellow for Community Engagement and Outreach. This role will work closely with college leadership and report to the Associate Dean for Faculty, collaborating with both faculty and senior staff, to make recommendations and develop new programs that increase community engagement at the college. This is a one-year appointment, starting in August 2026, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

We welcome applications from faculty currently serving at Arizona State University in an Honors Faculty Fellow position with the rank of Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor. This role includes 1/9th stipend for the academic year, and the selected candidate 1-course release each semester with the possibility of some summer work, based upon the needs of the college.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development and implementation of programs that build on new community partnerships and engagement projects, collaborating with faculty and staff to support students’ success by increasing Barrett’s connection to the community at large.

  • Seek out and engage in research and grant opportunities related to area of focus

  • Attend university-wide groups that help support the programs and initiatives that are being developed

  • Assist in creating reports for ASU leadership on the community engagement initiatives at Barrett

  • Assist with application reviews for scholarships relevant to area of focus

  • Represent BHC at college and university events

  • Other duties as assigned

The Dean’s Fellows work in a dynamic higher education environment that includes office, classroom, and campus-wide settings. The position requires regular interaction with faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Duties are performed in both individual and group settings, including meetings, presentations, and campus events. The role may also require presence at other locations as needed to support institutional initiatives and operations.

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings. The position may require occasional evening and weekend work to support campus events, meetings, and special projects. Travel between campuses or to community sites may be required.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in field of specialty and qualifications commensurate with a career-track associate teaching or teaching professor position

  • Must be a current Honors Faculty Fellow within Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University

  • Outstanding skills in communication and collaboration

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the values of the ASU Charter and Barrett’s mission, vision, and value

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the college (staff, faculty, students)

  • Understanding of other community engagement and outreach efforts at Barrett

  • Experience facilitating and participating in community projects associated with the

university
