Description

Arizona State University, Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation, is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, 9-month Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor to teach in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. Responsibilities may include didactic, clinical, lab/experiential/simulation, and online teaching.

Essential Functions

Instruction & Curriculum Development

  • Primary teaching assignment is in the DNP program, teaching courses in primary care, including health promotion, disease prevention, acute and chronic conditions, management of complex health alterations, and other courses in the DNP curriculum. Design and deliver evidence-based instructional content using traditional, digital, and AI-supported teaching methods.
  • May teach across Edson College programs
  • May participate in faculty practice and serve as preceptor
  • May be required to teach on multiple campus sites
  • Develop and refine course materials, syllabi, and manage course Canvas learning activities aligned with program and accreditation standards
  • Prior to teaching a clinical course: Faculty must demonstrate compliance with health and safety requirements of clinical agencies, including background clearance, Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint clearance, current Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification, current ACLS (as applicable) immunizations, and drug screening as required per clinical agencies.

Student Mentorship & Success

  • Advise and mentor graduate nursing students, fostering professional development, academic success, and transition to advanced clinical practice.
  • Provide timely feedback and guidance on clinical and scholarly projects.
  • Identify and address student issues, promoting academic resilience and achievement.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Design and implement student learning assessments that measure achievement of course and program outcomes.
  • Use AI-assisted analytics and traditional evaluation methods to assess learning outcomes and inform instructional adjustments.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement of program assessment processes.

Clinical & Professional Expertise

  • Maintain active certification and clinical expertise as a nurse practitioner in the area of specialization: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner or equivalent certification.
  • Integrate current evidence-based practices and clinical experiences into teaching.

Program & Institutional Service

  • Contribute to program accreditation, curriculum review, and compliance with state, national, and professional standards.
  • Serve on departmental, college, or university committees as assigned.
  • Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and scholarly activities to advance the mission of the program.

Scholarship & Research

  • Engage in scholarly activities related to nursing practice, education, or health care innovation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research projects, presentations, or publications.
  • Support student scholarly inquiry in alignment with DNP program requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
  • Hold an active and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Arizona.
    • Must provide evidence/ receipt of an Arizona RN license and an Arizona APRN license prior to employment.
  • National certification as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, OR Adult Nurse Practitioner.
  • Two years of APRN clinical experience with a population focus consistent with teaching responsibilities in an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching in an academic program (didactic, clinical, online).
  • Experience in coordinating courses, degree programs, clinical placements, or campus sites.
  • Prior experience teaching using simulation and/or standardized patients (OSCE).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor multicultural learners.
