Description

The School of Politics and Global Studies (SPGS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate positions during the 2026-27 academic year to teach in our online Master’s in Political Psychology program (MAPP).

Faculty Associates are part-time, adjunct faculty who are hired on one-semester, renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester. Faculty Associate positions are fixed-term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

For this position, we seek to attract pool of qualified people who are available to teach online in the MAPP program.

Essential Functions:

  • Teaching graduate courses in the Master’s in Political Psychology program.
  • Delivering online course instruction in alignment with program curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Assessing and returning student work with constructive feedback within established turnaround times.
  • Maintaining consistent presence and responsiveness within the course learning management system.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD or ABD by time of appointment in political science, political psychology or psychology or a related social-scientific field from a regionally accredited university
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment
  • Two to three years of teaching experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas
  • Expertise in one or more of the following content areas:

- Political Behavior

- Political Psychology

- Cognition and Emotions

- Personality and Politics

- Political Communication

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students, and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter and Design Aspirations

The initial application deadline is July 1, 2026. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool. Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled.
