The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences is seeking to hire two full-time, benefits-eligible, career track instructors in statistics, data science, chemistry, biology, physics, or a related field. The successful candidate(s) may teach 10 courses per academic year (five courses per semester). This position may teach in-person, online, or a hybrid schedule. Instructors are pedagogical specialists who bear the primary responsibility for their assigned courses. Successful applicants will start during the 2026-2027 academic year, with a preference for at least one of the positions to begin in August of 2026.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to undergraduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
• Depending on school needs and professional preparation, the candidate may be asked to teach graduate courses.
• Instructors are required to prepare syllabi, lectures, and class materials, exams, order textbooks, and to grade and/or administer assignments, quizzes, and exams, or any other assessments associated with their duties within the School.
• Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
• Monitor and guide course or teaching assistants when appropriate.
• Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.
• Foster collegiality throughout the organization.
• Complete periodic mandatory training.
• Monitor and respond to university, college, and school communication and requests. (may be required to attend select school and college meetings.)
• Maintain and update course materials as appropriate to the field and modality.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in statistics, data science, chemistry, biology, physics, or related field at time of hire

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness – e.g., prior experience teaching in classroom or lab settings, student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, etc.
• Doctoral degree preferred
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Experience in online instruction
