The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Integrated Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University is seeking part-time Faculty Associates to teach existing courses or develop new ones for the Biological Data Science Master’s program during the 2026-2027 academic year and beyond, in both in-person and online formats. Our graduate program provides a strong foundation in biological sciences, integrating statistical and computational tools to address real-world biological challenges through data-driven solutions. We are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about teaching graduate courses and bring academic or industry expertise in the following areas:

Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach relevant courses to graduate students, in face-to-face or online formats.
• Prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, and grade assignments and exams.
• Maintain regular availability to graduate students including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
• Monitor graduate student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.
• Monitor and guide course assistants

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in a related field at the time of hire

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience teaching or relevant industry experience including working with profit or non-profit institutions.
• Experience in teaching or developing graduate level courses in-person or online in related fields
• Experience using online learning platforms and developing interactive course materials, including interactive videos, lectures, and assignments for online courses
• Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and staff with varied backgrounds
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
• Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, teaching philosophy, etc.
