Description
Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation invites applications for Faculty Associate positions to teach in the RN-BSN Program. Faculty Associates are one-semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load. Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University.
Faculty Associates are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, guiding our RN-BSN students, and contributing subject matter expertise in Nursing.
Essential Functions
Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Demonstrates expert knowledge in the field and the ability to transmit and extend that knowledge to students and others through dynamic, stimulating, and creative strategies.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop critical, creative thinkers through continuous planning, analysis, evaluation, and revision of courses and workshops.
- Demonstrates current knowledge in the field and sustained effectiveness in teaching in the classroom and clinical area.
- Teaches in a variety of environments, which may include classroom, clinical, laboratory (experiential/simulation), or distance/online.
- May teach on multiple campus sites
- Develops, implements, and evaluates innovative teaching methods.
- Prior to teaching a clinical course: Faculty must demonstrate compliance with health and safety requirements of clinical agencies, including background clearance, Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint clearance, current Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification, current ACLS (as applicable), immunizations, and drug screening as required per clinical agencies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Hold an earned graduate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution by the time of the appointment
- Hold an active and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Arizona.
- Must provide evidence/ receipt of an Arizona RN license prior to employment.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical/professional nursing experience.
- Clinical experience or teaching experience in the areas of adult health or specialty nursing area (including but not limited to pediatrics, maternity and women’s health, perioperative, psychiatric nursing, community health nursing) within the past 3 years.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold an earned Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in nursing, healthcare, or healthcare-related education, leadership, or other applicable discipline.
- Two years of prior experience as a nurse educator in an academic educational setting.
- Experience in coordinating courses, degree programs, clinical placements, or campus sites.
- Prior experience teaching using simulation.
