Our Professional Services Defense Team supports our Nation’s warfighters and Intelligence Community, providing, operating, and assuring critical voice, video, and collaboration services for the full spectrum of government operations. We have a long history of supporting our customers with exceptional technical expertise in areas of transmission technologies, data techniques, applications integration, emerging services, and network evolution.
AT&T has an opening for a Lead Government System Design Engineer to support AT&T’s Defense and National Security sector in managing several operational projects, services, systems, and communications for government programs.
The job duties of the network engineer are as follows:
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, TACACS, Cisco video/voice/chat systems, DNS and DHCP
- Procuring network equipment and managing others involved with network installation
- Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
- Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Arranging scheduled upgrades working with internal teams and remote onsite workforce teams
- Investigating faults across two network enterprises
- Managing cloud-based networks to include Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- Managing SolarWinds Orion suite of tools to include network performance/configuration manager and others
- Managing Cisco operations support systems to include Cisco Call Manager, Scheduler, and other systems
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Working with information systems security team to close all security vulnerabilities
- Conducting network and telecommunications system incident and problem investigation and diagnostics
- Creating and maintaining network and telecommunications systems diagrams and configuration documentation; provide network configuration management support to facilitate maintenance activities
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders
- Possess an analytical mind, have an ability to learn new technologies quickly, strong ability to follow processes with documentation/communication/time management skills, have good commercial and business awareness
Required Clearance:
TS/SCI with polygraph (#ts/sci) (#polygraph)
Required Qualifications:
Five to ten year’s telecommunications, WAN, and/or data center experience as a network engineer in programs and contracts of a similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Certifications to include Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCIS-ENT) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Strong Juniper and Cisco experience with core WAN technologies and routing protocols, CAN/LAN management, terminal servers, TACACS, Cisco Webex voice/video/chat systems for Telepresence, and firewall management
Desired Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. degree in computer science, computer software/computer systems engineering, computer systems/networks, electrical/electronic engineering, mathematics, network security management, or physics

Our Lead System Design Engineer Network’s earn between $120,000 to $175,000 yearly. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
