Our Product Development group, part of AT&T’s Technology Services (ATS) organisation, is responsible for building software-based products, services, and platforms that our customer love and need. Harnessing technology and rebuilding software expertise the team is inspiring simplicity with projects that deliver revenue and cost savings opportunities.
We’re hiring for a lead architect & developer of a full stack development team with a strong background in cross-platform software engineering and delivering innovation projects.
This opportunity will support the transformation of our industry standard order and delivery management systems. You will provide technical & architectural guidance to teams that work (end-to-end) on new and existing features, enhancements, and defect resolution on one or more of AT&T's software systems and platforms.
The position requires close collaboration with U.S based Product Management, Business Systems, and Operations teams throughout system development life cycles.
To be successful in this technical leadership role you have an active background in software engineering with extensive middleware and databases exposure and with deep understanding of software methodologies. You have proven record of defining software development best practices and providing architectural guidance to the team. When required you will have the capability to engage at a ‘design & code review’ level. You will have experience with designing new software or systems, as well as evaluating, optimizing, transforming existing ones. You may have had previous experience in a rapid-growth start-up enterprise or worked within an international environment.
Core Responsibilities:
o Design, implement, and trouble-shoot scalable and reusable software systems: 3-tier and cloud-based systems.
o Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
o Recommend changes to existing designs to improve efficiency or performance.
o Actively support configuration management of code and software.
o Create technical documentation such as design specifications and development plans.
o Represent the team in global architectural and engineering agreements and discussions.
o Provide technical leadership to guide and mentor team members.
o Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
o Actively participate in coding exercises and peer code reviews as part of the development life cycles and change management.
Skils, Knowledge and Experience:
• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.
• Proven experience as software / system architect, preferably also with transforming existing architecture.
• Extensive experience, ideally a minimum of 7-10+ years in the following:
Software architecture. Linux/Unix system programming and opensource frameworks experience (e.g., gcc/C). Object-oriented programming experience (e.g., C++, Java, etc.). Code reviews and analyzers. Network protocol and tools experience (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP(S), IPv4, etc.). Web API experience and architectural styles (e.g., REST). Python or other scripting language experience.
• Considerable experience, ideally a minimum of 4+ years in the following:
Modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React), Test automation development (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, etc.), Configuration management experience (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
• Experience in the following areas would be desirable:
Database concepts: relational, NoSQL, and modeling, cloud-based technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, etc.), container technologies (e.g., Docker, etc.), software methodologies (waterfall, scrum, etc.), Salesforce, ServiceNow, and TM Forum Open APIs a plus.
Education qualifications:
Bachelor level degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or related field of study.

Compensation:
Salary starting from € 3,800 gross monthly. The actual offered salary may be considerably higher based on your skills, knowledge, and experience. As a guide the salary mid-point is € 4800 gross monthly. Exceptional candidates could be compensated at a higher level.
Location:
This is a hybrid-flex worker position where our preference is for you to be present with your team in the office at least 1-3 times per week.
Travel between to our locations in Bratislava/Brno/Kosice is expected from time-to-time.
