The Foundation

We are the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise: people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we’re committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team

Our Global Health (GH) division harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in poor countries. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they don’t, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work in infectious diseases focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases, pneumonia, and maternal, newborn and child health. These strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Discovery and Translational Sciences, Innovative Technology Solutions, Vaccine Development, and Integrated Development.

The Integrated Development (IDev) team is a functional team that supports all aspects of product development for our priority diseases, in the domains of regulatory affairs, quantitative sciences, chemistry manufacturing & controls, and clinical trial design. Within the IDev team, the Quantitative Sciences (QS) domain focuses on supporting the foundation’s priorities and addressing its quantitative questions, notably with regards to pharmacometrics, Model Informed Drug Development (MIDD), Real World Data/Evidence (RWD/RWE) and data sciences. Furthermore, we invest in data-related platforms that will support multiple foundation teams in the future (e.g. MIDD uptake by regulators, Data Ecosystems in LMICs).

We are looking for an outstanding Deputy Director to lead the Quantitative Sciences (QS) domain in IDev – including thought leadership, people management and ownership of the domain’s investment portfolio. This position reports to the Director of Integrated Development and is in Seattle, WA (with flexibility to consider placement in Washington D.C. or a remote work arrangement in the US)

  • Further develop, manage and execute our strategy on Model Informed Drug Development (MIDD) and LMIC Data Ecosystems platform. Translate these strategies into concrete investment plans

  • Own the investment portfolio of the QS domain and ensure it is impactful and aligned to our strategy. Ensure investments track to yearly budget, participate in IDev decision making on prioritization and trade-offs
