The Team

In June 2020, the foundation hired a Chief Communications Officer and established a new Communications Division to oversee the foundation’s global communications strategy. The division brings together internal and external communications to advance the foundation’s mission of a more equitable world.

Global Communications: The Global Communications team is responsible for shaping internal and external use of foundation voice in order to protect the foundation’s reputation and advance its priority advocacy and program objectives and ensure that employees are meaningfully connected to the foundation’s mission and community. The team is responsible for comprehensive voice planning for foundation leadership and key spokespeople as well as driving engagement with media.

Your Role

The HR and Change Communications officer will play a critical role in driving effective internal communications strategies to support HR initiatives and organizational change efforts. This role requires a strategic approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various partners across the foundation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of HR practices, change management principles, knowledge management and the power of effective communications to drive employee engagement and successful change adoption. This role will report to the Deputy Director of Employee Engagement and Communications within the Global Communications team.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal communications plans aligned with HR initiatives and organizational change projects.

  • Collaborate closely with HR leaders and project teams to identify communication needs, goals, and key messages.

  • Create and deliver engaging communications materials, including written content, presentations, videos, and other multimedia assets, to advise, inspire, and engage employees during periods of change.

  • Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and tone across all internal communications channels and platforms.

  • Support HR programs, policies, and initiatives by crafting effective communication strategies that increase awareness, understanding, and engagement among employees.

  • Develop and manage internal communication channels, such as intranet, newsletters, town halls, and other communication tools, to facilitate information sharing and employee engagement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HR-related information to employees.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications initiatives through feedback, metrics, and analytics, and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and change advocate, providing guidance and support to leaders and employees throughout change initiatives.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and standard processes in HR communications and change management, and apply this knowledge to enhance internal communication strategies and practices.

Your Experience (i.e., Qualifications and Education)

You are strategic, proactive, adaptable and a problem-solver. You are able to work under pressure with poise and operate with alacrity in a fast-paced and respectful environment, ideally with experience navigating large, matrixed, global organizations. You also bring respect and curiosity to working with colleagues from around the world with a client service approach. You are creative, resourceful, and have excellent judgment, and you enjoy collaboration.

Additional Desired Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in HR or communications is a plus.

  • Proven experience in internal communications, preferably in an HR or change management capacity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and engaging messages for diverse audiences.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and run multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms, including intranets, social media, and multimedia content creation software.

  • Knowledge of HR practices and principles, including employee engagement, talent management, and organizational development.

  • Familiarity with change management methodologies and the ability to apply them to communication strategies.

  • Ability to build trusting and effective relationships with colleagues, leadership principals, and external partners

  • Willingness to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail and strength in composing and delivering quality materials

  • Sense of humor, positive, professional attitude, especially in stressful and time-sensitive situations.

  • Ease working with different types of people and working styles and commitment to DEI and understanding of cultural empathy

  • Experience leading people in a high-paced environment

  • Dedication to a job well executed and to supporting your team’s success

  • Willing to travel up to 20%

The typical salary range for this role is $ 149,800 to $ 278,700 USD. The exact offer will be determined by a variety of factors such as the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications, and experience relative to the requirements of the role.
