The Team

The Central Finance Planning and Analysis (CFP&A) Team strives to amplify impact through partnership and stewardship to effectively allocate and manage operating expenses and resources across the organization. CFP&A provides comprehensive FP&A business support to the foundation’s Operations Divisions and manages the organization’s operating expenses. By delivering insightful financial analysis and fostering strong partnerships, CFP&A plays a critical role in driving the foundation’s financial efficiency and supporting its strategic initiatives.

Your Role

As a Senior FP&A Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap in data analysis and financial modeling. This position is essential for supporting ambitious growth initiatives by ensuring accurate and consistent data sources, and developing products such as comprehensive reports, models, and forecasts for an executive-level audience. Your expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, and data management will drive the vision and change vital for long-term success.

You will be responsible for the design and development of information products, including requirements gathering, design, development, user acceptance testing and delivery. Additionally, you will implement operational processes, including reconciliation of financial data, report maintenance, and other ad-hoc data analysis. Serving as a data and reporting lead, you will support development and collaborate with partner teams to ensure projects deliver the expected scope and business value on schedule.

What You’ll Do
Partner collaboration and solution design

  • Collaborate with users to understand struggles and capture/document requirements.

  • Act as the voice of the customer to technical teams in crafting and developing reporting products.

  • Ensure deliverables meet business needs and participate in prioritization processes.

  • Provide front-line customer support to resolve issues promptly.

  • Develop an inclusive culture through behavior modeling and timely partner concern of issues.

Ensure consistent data sources, definitions and metrics:

  • Investigate and ensure the accuracy and consistency of data sources across the organization (e.g., headcount, cost per trip).

  • Identify and resolve issues with data, systems, and reporting that impact financial models and decision-making.

  • Partner with other Operations and Program Divisions to understand and source vendor and system data.

  • Supervise internal data requirements, ownership, vendor involvement, and project progress.

  • Align with partners on how to embed findings and reporting into existing and future processes and enterprise reporting.

Develop and implement internal financial instrumentation for operating expenses

  • Develop and maintain, with continuous discipline, a financial knowledge base including reports, dashboards, models, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

  • Review financial results and provide executive-level guidance for cost reduction and optimization.

  • Support sophisticated financial planning and provide project management support for OpEx data projects.

  • Act as the go-to source of CFPA/CFO knowledge and insight.

  • Maintain an ongoing financial pulse of the business, focusing on leading indicator metrics.

  • Establish a cadence for current data availability while maintaining a roadmap for future state.

  • Act as the Single Point of Contact and Subject Matter Authority for reporting and back-office needs within CFPA.

  • Work with Data Reporting and Analytics (DRA) to ensure coordination and avoid duplication.

Develop and evaluate sophisticated financial models and forecasts

  • Evaluate and optimize financial forecasts, focusing on the impact rather than ownership.

  • Conduct financial modeling to support ratio-driven decisions regarding staffing levels.

  • Analyze data on hiring internally versus outsourcing (build vs. buy analysis).

  • Optimize operational spending to ensure effective utilization of resources.

  • Chip in to developing goals, guidelines, and norms around OpEx spending to reach organizational targets.

  • Develop and refine organizational reporting and visualizations for leadership to help with decision making related to targets for operating expenses in partnership with Enterprise Business Management.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • Demonstrable experience in financial planning and analysis or a similar role.

  • Experience in developing data visualization tools and delivering executive-level content in Power BI, PowerPoint or similar platforms.

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills in Excel including expertise in pivot tables, logical functions, data linking, financial modeling and forecasting.

  • Understanding of data architecture principles.

  • Experience integrating data from disparate sources into cohesive reports.

  • Experience working with complex data and datasets including financial data and geographically distributed resources.

  • Experience with EPM platforms, particularly Adaptive, is preferred.

  • Experience in identifying and resolving data, system, and reporting issues.

  • Experience collaborating with a variety of delivery partners in an agile environment to develop reporting products.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to provide executive-level guidance.

  • Ability to identify the underlying connections in data and to demonstrate them to build storylines.

  • Human Centered Design training is a plus.

The salary range for this role is $125,000.00 - $187,500.00 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $136,100.00 - $204,300.00 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
